What is the best way to get rid of the smell of urine

What is the best way to get rid of the smell of urine from a mattress? My 5 year old still has accidents and even after drying it in the sun i can smell it in the room?

Good ole Febreze! Spray the mattress down with it regularly & the room as well & then get a waterproof mattress cover & waterproof pillow case. I know about this because my son had a bed-wetting problem until he was 10 years old. He slept too heavy to wake up when he needed to go & then suddenly(thank goodness, he just stopped.

Did you honestly think sun-drying a urine soaked mattress would make it smell better?

Try using febreeze, or one of those fabric sprayers that actually kills odor, try it about everyday. Also, get one of those plastic mattress pads for future accidents and in between the pad and the mattress, put scented dryer sheets. If those don’t work, the only other thing I can think of is to get a new mattress.

Vinegar and water will help a little. It will just smell like vinegar now.

Urine is acidic. Try baking soda for squamous epithelial cells in your urine.

Yeah..there’s really no cure for that..and you totally baked the scent in there for good with it being in the sun..

Replace it with a new one. And then have plastic under the sheets from now on..

Sprinkle baking soda. It helps diffuse the smell of anything. You can also dissolve it in lukewarm water and they spray the mixture on the mattress. The next day, vacuum the mattress. You should consider buying a mattress protector in order to protect your mattress from kid wetting.
